Summary: Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition (D3D9Ex) crashes in
main menu (AMD graphics)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: d3d
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: svyatpro(a)gmail.com
I have AMD Radeon HD7370 hardware with outdated driver (OpenGL 4.2 support
only) and Windows XP.
Running Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition with this spec fails in main menu. The
game uses Direct3D9Ex so OpenGL4.2 should be completely suitable for it. I have
no issues on NVIDIA graphics with OpenGL 4.5 support.

A small sample project containing nothing else but a cs source file, a csproj
file and the sln file for this project
Hello,
I've stumbled over an issue in your current System.Windows.Forms implementation
which did not affect the official version of Mono from the Mono Project.
The problem affects the ContextMenuStrip class which usually has a
SourceControl property.
In WinForms there is a PictureBox widget which can have a context menu
(ContextMenuStrip) with its elements (ToolStripMenuItem).
The property SourceControl would normally provide you with information about
the element that actually owns this context menu (useful if you have multiple
PictureBoxes) - it actually did until upstream version 6.12.0.200 (the final
release I could get from Mono's official repository for Ubuntu).
Now when I take the mono implementation from your repository and compile it
locally to run my project, the SourceControl will always be null which is
really annoying.
To better understand my problem, I've attached a zip compressed archive of a
sample project I created to demonstrate the issue.
The program consists of a small WinForms window with a single PictureBox in it.
Right-click on the picture box will open up a ContextMenuStrip with a single
ToolStripMenuItem in it ("Get underlying control"). When you click on this
item, the method ToolStripMenuItem_Click will be executed and runs
GetUnderlyingControl to determine the type of the control.
On Windows .NET Framework and the old Mono implementations, the behavior is
consistent (MessageBox shows "Underlying Control: pictureBox").
In your current Mono build, the MessageBox will show "No underlying control
found"

Bug Showcase
Due to the old and hard to get by nature of this program, i post the
archive.org link for debugging. https://archive.org/details/rm-2k-3-rpg-1
I was modding the free (as in beer) game Yume Nikki (i used the portable build
at https://uboachan.net/ ) and very recently RPGMaker2003 started showing the
main part of the editor as a giant black square.
This square is strange as i can see some components inside the black square
blocking the view (like E buttons or the highlighted tile), but neither that or
the tileset load graphically correct.
There were no logs on the terminal that was running RPGMaker2003
I originally found the bug using the Bottles program and the custom fork they
ship called Soda 8.0.2, but once it appeared i tried multiple versions and to
make this report i used Arch Linux's 9.12 wine.
I can't provide an exact date this started happening as i wasn't paying
attention, but it started around a week and a half ago. And today i noticed an
update to Flatpak Wine that didn't fix anything.
System Info:
Arch Linux, 6.9.7 Zen, KDE Plasma 6.1.2

A few notes and backtraces in wine and cygwin.
In another attempt to check the state of msys2 or cygwin I found following
issue trying to update a msys2-64 installation:
# LANG=C pacman -Suy
:: Synchronizing package databases...
...
warning: could not remove lock file /var/lib/pacman/db.lck
error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)
error: could not lock database: File exists

A simpler version to reproduce is this:
rm -f test.txt
LANG=C wine cmd
echo test > test.txt
attrib +r test.txt
c:\msys64\usr\bin\rm.exe -f -v test.txt
Returns:
/usr/bin/rm: cannot remove 'test.txt': Permission denied

Notes to reproduce, a backtrace in cygwin/wine.
I tried to check if bug #19858 is still an issue.
Unfortunately I hit a rsync call which fails:
$ rsync -aq --delete-before dir-a dir-b
rsync: [Receiver] Failed to dup/close: Socket operation on non-socket (108)
rsync error: error in IPC code (code 14) at pipe.c(157) [Receiver=3.2.7]
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(231)
It looks like rsync forks a child process, and the child tries then to close
the derived socket, which cannot be found in closesocket/socket_list_remove.
This seems kind of similar to bug #54995.

keep appearing, some of which can't be dismissed, making the application
unusable.
