Wine 3.8 Released

The Wine development release 3.8 is now available.

What's new in this release:

  • Infrastructure for writing kernel driver tests.
  • Support for showing file properties in the Shell browser.
  • MP3 decoder as a DirectX Media Object.
  • More support for the Task Scheduler.
  • Support for COM aggregation in UrlMon.
  • Various bug fixes.

The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.

WineConf 2018 - 25th anniversary

The Wine Project is pleased to announce that WineConf 2018 will take place on June 29 - July 1 2018 in The Hague, The Netherlands. This will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Wine.

WineConf is the Wine Project's annual conference, where members of the Wine community, the broader Free Software community and interested users meet up over food and beverages. We traditionally also have a number of talks by attendees, as well as some formal and informal discussions about anything vaguely Wine related.

Wine 3.0 Released

January 18, 2018

The Wine team is proud to announce that the stable release Wine 3.0 is now available.

This release represents a year of development effort and over 6,000 individual changes. It contains a large number of improvements that are listed in the release notes. The main highlights are:

  • Direct3D 10 and 11 support.
  • The Direct3D command stream.
  • The Android graphics driver.
  • Improved DirectWrite and Direct2D support.

Once again, because of the annual release schedule, a number of features that are being worked on have been deferred to the next development cycle. This includes in particular Direct3D 12 and Vulkan support, as well as OpenGL ES support to enable Direct3D on Android.

The Wine development release 3.0-rc1 is now available.

This is the first release candidate for the upcoming Wine 3.0. It marks the beginning of the code freeze period. There have been many last minute changes, so please give this release a good testing to help us make 3.0 as good as possible.

  • Direct3D 11 enabled by default on AMD and Intel GPUs.
  • AES encryption support on macOS.
  • Implementation of the task scheduler.
  • Registry export support in the reg.exe tool.
  • Progman DDE support.
  • OLE data cache improvements.
